Silky Red Wine Balsamic Glaze

Balsamic vinegar is BAE. I will seriously just sip it right out of the bottle sometimes, that is how obsessed with balsamic vinegar I am. The tanginess and richness of it goes wonderfully with so many different foods!

This glaze has not only balsamic vinegar, but also red wine and let’s get real…who doesn’t love recipes with alcohol so you can drink while you cook? I used Smoking Loon Syrah for this recipe but you could use any kind of red wine you like. I would stick with a dry red for this, as the brown sugar adds a lot of sweetness and I think a sweeter wine would be a little overkill. But you can try and let me know how it turns out.

YUM. Ok, enough photos, let’s get down to the recipe…

 

Red Wine Balsamic Glaze

Prep time: 0 minutes | Cook time: 15-20 minutes | Yield: about 1.5 cups

Ingredients

  • 1 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1 cup dry red wine (the kind you would drink!)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • A few pinches of salt

Directions:

Combine all ingredients into a small saucepan. Heat until the liquid is simmering, not boiling. Simmer the glaze for about 15 minutes, maybe a bit more, until it has reduced by about half. The glaze should thickly coat the back of a spoon. It will also thicken up quite a bit as it cools.

Serving suggestions:

SERVE THIS WITH EVERYTHING! It is so, so, so delicious.
